Do Not Be Daunted

from 26.00

My daughter found this quote and shared it with me, knowing that I’d find it meaningful, even helpful, right now. Hand-lettered over 18 hours in several sessions, I thought I’d make it available to others looking for comforting words in hard times. I was asked by a good friend about attribution. A quick search attributed it to the Talmud. With a bit more research I found it to be a mashup of several sources. The “Do Justly Now... Love Mercy Now...” is a paraphrase from Micah 6:8. “You are not obligated to complete the work...” comes from Rabbi Tarfon in Pirke Avot 2:20 (Ethics of the Fathers), a part of the Mishnah, the first major written collection of Jewish oral traditions. As a whole, it is Rabbi Rami Shapiro’s interpretive translation of Rabbi Tarfon’s work.

I’m offering giclee prints in a choice of four different color options and three sizes. All will be professionally printed on Somerset Velvet Giclee paper, with a border around the image for framing.

In an effort to make a difference in the world, I will donate half of the proceeds of all prints purchased to the ACLU.
