It's been awhile acrylics! Nice to see you again.
So I started a new online class last week—Get Your Paint On. My first class assignment went slow and was very labored. I overworked it and worked like I'd never met acrylics before. But this week's assignment is going better. Some of the things the wonderful instructors talked about in this weeks lesson really resonated with me. I jumped right in again, but with more awareness of the medium, and this time with a thin dark red underpainting. I'm using a thinner paint mixture in getting started which makes getting smooth edges easier. And, I'm applying those thinner paints in layers resulting in a depth and richness. I'm blending more and allowing the texture of the canvas to enhance the image.
Painting with watercolors the last couple of months has been a nice change of pace, but I forgot how forgiving acrylics can be, and I'm enjoying that very much! I might even get back to the HUGE painting that's been sitting on my easel for a long time now and finish it up. It'll look great in the living room!
Back to painting.
