Holiday Cards

http://apronmemories.blogspot.com/2008/12/perfect-card.html

I had a lovely Etsy customer contact me a few weeks ago about a large card order for the holidays. She was so wonderful to work with. Yesterday she wrote blog post mentioning my card design. It was so nice of her to do that, and to get permission to show the card on her blog before publishing it.

Happy Holidays to all!

Making Pictures People Enjoy

When I tell people that I'm an artist/designer they think I sit around all day making pretty pictures. It's not rocket science or brain surgery. Although most think it's an easy job, they don't realize the challenges of creating something completely new and different everyday on a blank sheet of paper (or computer screen) that satisfies the needs of clients or patrons. And, my pictures probably won't be recorded in history books along side the works of Picasso or Chagall.

But, people do find meaning in what I do and often purchase a painting to hang on their wall or give as a gift. They are choosing to "live" with the piece of art I've created because it is pleasing to look at or strikes a spiritual chord in their heart. It never ceases to blow me away that people do that, especially in times like these when food and shelter compete for their income. I feel privileged to be able to leave on this planet a little something of me that will last after I'm gone.

I appreciate those who share their enjoyment of my work. Etsy has a treasury feature where a member can "curate" a collection of work they like. I was fortunate to be included in four treasuries at once last week. How exciting that people found my work among the thousands of other talented artists and chose to highlight it within the Etsy community. I extend my sincere gratitude to all of the "curators" in Etsy-land.

A New Line of Pendants: Virtue Garden

I'm designing a new line of pendants called "Virtue Garden." Each pendant has a graphic, botanical image on the front and a virtue to "grow" on the reverse. The pendants designs are encased between two pieces of glass and are framed with Silvergleem lead-free solder. Here's a sneak peak at a few of the designs coming.

Once the designs are listed in my Etsy shop, I will be happy to create just the right combination of words, colors and designs to suit your taste and needs.

Grow some virtues!

Celebrating Etsy Jewish Art and Artists

EtsyChai is the newest street team being developed and I am so excited to be a member! My painting "Peace Rising" is featured in a post today. JillHannah is the "take charge" shop owner who's made this all happen so fast! She's started a blog where currently the Statement of Purpose is being discussed.

Our team purpose is to promote Jewish community, Jewish art, and things for the Jewish holidays on Etsy. We will work to bring current Etsians into our shops as well as encouraging the greater Jewish community to shop on Etsy.

This street team will be open to anyone who has an interest in Judaism or in Jewish culture, art, or crafts, whether or not they themselves are Jewish. It will also be open to people who are Jewish or have an interest in being part of a Jewish crafting community regardless of whether or not the items in their Etsy shop would be classified as Judaica.

We've almost been certified kosher!
